Part One: Exploring
a Spongy Universe
When you have
received a sponge from your instructor, follow these instructions.
Step
One: Feel the sponge and describe in detail what you feel.
Step
Two:
Describe the process you think was used to form the holes while
the sponge was being made?
Step
Three: Read Part One of “The Spongy Universe”
student text and be prepared to answer the following questions:
When do you
think that the “Hubble bubbles” formed—early in
the formation of the universe or late in the history of the universe?
Why do you think this?
What do you
think caused the formation of the “Hubble bubbles?’
What information or observation led you to this conclusion?
Do you think
that there is anything in those "voids" that we cannot
see or detect with scientific instruments? Why or why not?
